New Jersey Courts Authorize Resumption of In-Person Jury Trials

New Jersey Courts Authorize Resumption

In a recent Notice to the Bar, the New Jersey Supreme Court announced that in-person jury trials will resume on or after June 15, 2021.  While in-person criminal jury trials will receive the highest priority, in-person civil jury trials may be authorized by each County’s respective Assignment Judge based on available local resources.

For those selected for jury duty, initial selection will be done virtually with the possibility that jurors may be required to appear in person for those cases in which in-person trials are permitted.

Additional guidance and protocols relating to the resumption of in-person jury proceedings may be provided by the Administrative Director of the Courts.
